
At least 40 people have died in a traffic accident involving a suburban bus in Guatemala. The vehicle was carrying 50 passengers and fell into a ravine, ending up in the river below, while crossing the Belice Bridge in the capital.
President Bernardo Arevalo sent the army and civil defense to provide assistance on the scene and declared a national mourning. According to witnesses reported by the newspaper "Prensa Guatemala", the bus had collided with a car before falling off the bridge.
