The Malian army announced that 25 people were killed and 13 others were injured following a terrorist attack on a convoy of civilian vehicles in the north of the country. The armed forces' general staff released the news on social media, later picked up by the Moroccan agency Map, attributing the attack to "a group of several terrorists" in Kobe, about 30 kilometers from the city of Gao. "During the violent fighting, the repelled terrorists deliberately targeted civilian passengers," the statement read, noting that three vehicles were hit. The victims were "mostly young foreign gold miners" who were leaving for a gold mine in the Gao region.
