The attack left 11 people dead, including the attacker. Police are investigating to find out the motive.
In Sweden, TV4 has released a video shot by a man who survived the shooting at the adult school in Orebro. In the video, shots can be heard and in the distance a cry of "You must leave Europe!" followed by more gunfire. According to sources who spoke to TV4, it is the voice of Rickard Andersson, the man who, according to the Swedish police, carried out the massacre .
For now, investigators have said they do not know the motives behind the attack, but the investigation is still ongoing. "We are examining all possible leads in this preliminary investigation," said Anders Dahlman, a police spokesman.
We are looking for a motive
Anna Bergqvist, who is leading the investigation, explained at a press conference: "We are interviewing witnesses and people who have connections with the perpetrator to find out why this happened. And we don't have an answer yet. We have acquired videos. We are listening to voicemails to try to establish what was said. Is there anything that can lead us to a motive? But that's not something we, as heads of investigation, can say yet."
The victims are of different nationalities
Swedish police said the victims of the massacre at Risbergska, an adult school that also offers Swedish language courses for migrants, included "multiple nationalities." The alleged killer was identified in the Swedish press as Rickard Andersson, 35, but there was no official confirmation. "We think we know who the perpetrator is and what his identity is, but we will not confirm this information until we are absolutely sure that we have a DNS match," the investigator said.
The Killer
According to Swedish media, the attacker was a local man who lived as a recluse and suffered from psychological problems. He had several weapons with him. TV4 published a video shot by a student hiding in a bathroom where shots can be heard outside and a person shouting: "You're leaving Europe!".
The Syrian embassy expressed "its condolences and solidarity with the families of the victims, including Syrians," in a post on its Facebook page Wednesday evening, while residents left notes, flowers and candles near the site of the massacre in memory of the victims.
