Prime Minister Kristersson: "A painful day for the whole country". The police have surrounded the building en masse. The minister: "The situation is serious". At least ten shots were fired

At least six people have been injured, at least one seriously, in a shooting at a school in Orebro , central Sweden. The police reported, but did not confirm the version given by local media according to which there were several victims  and at least 15 injured. Among them was the attacker, who had previously been reported dead by suicide. The police surrounded the building and asked all citizens to "stay away" from the scene. At least ten shots were fired , according to witnesses.

" The situation is very serious ," said Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer. The shots were fired after many students had gone home after finishing a national exam. Those present took refuge in nearby buildings . Other parts of the school were evacuated following the shooting, which began around 12:30 p.m. In September, a teenager was killed in a similar shooting at another school south of Stockholm.

Swedish PM: "A painful day for the whole country"

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called it "a terrible act of violence. My thoughts are with those who have been affected and their families. This is a very painful day for all of Sweden. My thoughts are also with all those whose normal school day has been transformed by terror. Being confined to a classroom worrying for your life is a nightmare no one should have to live through."

The school where the shooting occurred, Campus Risbergska , serves students over the age of 20. It offers primary and secondary school courses, as well as Swedish courses for immigrants, vocational training and programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
