In Germany, the Parliament approved the first of two motions presented by the Union of CDU and CSU for safe borders and an end to illegal immigration. There were 348 votes in favor, 345 against, 10 abstentions. The choice of the far-right AfD parliamentary group to support the motion was decisive for the outcome of the vote.

The five-point text asks the government to reinstate constant controls on all German borders, the immediate expulsion of all those who do not have the right to remain in Germany, that those who are on national territory without the right cannot remain free but are arrested, to support the federal states in the execution of expulsion orders, to speed up expulsion procedures for those who commit crimes.
