A man has been arrested in Washington, in the Capitol Hill area, accused of trying to kill the Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, the head of the Pentagon Pete Hegseth and the Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. The Guardian reports. Ryan English approached the police near the entrance to Congress. When he was searched he was found in possession of a pocketknife and a Molotov cocktail. Another bomb was found in his car.
The arrest took place on Monday evening. The man later confessed to having traveled from Massachusetts with the intention of killing Johnson, Bessent and Hegseth, whom he called a "Nazi."
