The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, had a telephone conversation with the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the first since his inauguration.
The Farnesina announced it. "Relations with the USA are - together with Europe - the priority of our foreign policy," Tajani wrote in X. "Full strategic convergence on peace and reconstruction in Ukraine and Gaza.
We want to work together in Africa, Latin America and the Indo-Pacific to strengthen the unity of the West." On a bilateral level, the two confirmed "the relationship of trust" and the desire to "intensify" trade relations.
