
The American president may reconsider his decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization!
Donald Trump has announced that he may consider rejoining the World Health Organization ( WHO ), days after ordering the United States to leave the agency.
Over what he described as its mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic and other international health crises. The United States , which is scheduled to leave the WHO on January 22, 2026, is by far the organization's largest funder, contributing about 18% of its total funding.
The comparison with China
The WHO’s most recent biennial budget, for 2024-2025, was $6.8 billion. Trump told the Las Vegas crowd that he was unhappy that the United States paid more money to the WHO than China, which has a much larger population. Before opening up about a possible return: “Maybe we would consider doing it again, I don’t know. Maybe we would. They would have to clean it up,” he said.
