A member of Congress has proposed an amendment that would allow Donald Trump to be elected to a third term as president.

Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, has introduced a joint resolution to amend the 22nd Amendment, which currently prohibits anyone from serving more than two terms as president.

The new wording would allow a president to serve three terms, as long as only two of those terms are consecutive.

Ogles made it clear that the proposal is specifically aimed at Trump: "This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs."
