The American president asks EU countries for financial contribution for the 80 thousand US soldiers who will remain in the Old Continent

Donald Trump has decided to suspend more than $300 billion in funds for green infrastructure that had been allocated by the Biden administration.

This is what we read in a White House order, according to which "all agencies must immediately" stop using the funds. Furthermore, the new American President  is said to intend to cut the number of US soldiers present in Europe.

Twenty thousand men less

There is talk of a reduction in the presence of the stars and stripes troops in the Old Continent of about 20%, that is 20 thousand fewer men. It would be a first step in the announced revision of its commitment to the protection of Europe, according to what a European diplomatic source says.

"Furthermore - the same source clarifies -, for those that remain, Trump would like a financial contribution from European countries because these soldiers are a deterrent and the costs cannot weigh only on the shoulders of American taxpayers". Trump is said to have "consistently" manifested this desire to the various European leaders he has met so far.

Pentagon Sends Thousands of Troops to Mexican Border

The Pentagon has ordered thousands of troops to the southern border with Mexico, administration officials reported, cited by CNN. About 2,200 U.S. troops are already at the border as part of the "Joint Task Force-North," the Northern Command border mission based north of El Paso, Texas, to support the border police with mainly logistical and bureaucratic tasks. It is not yet clear which specific units have been ordered to the border, where there is also a contingent of the National Guard, led by the Texas National Guard.
