Earthquake in Taiwan, 26 injured and 50 people isolated

The magnitude 6.4 earthquake and aftershocks that struck southern Taiwan on Monday have left 26 people injured, according to the latest updates from the Ministry of Health, which also reported that 50 people were isolated in the village of Xixing in Dapu District, Chiayi County, the epicenter of the quake.

 

In addition to causing the collapse of roads and homes in the village, the quake also caused damage in the cities of Tainan, Kaohsiung and the village of Haituan in Taitung. As of 3:30 a.m. today (8 p.m. yesterday in Italy), nearly 50 aftershocks have been recorded.
