The war in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, involving Lebanon, Syria and Iran, has reached day 473.

 

A ceasefire in Gaza began at 10:15 a.m. Italian time on Sunday, January 19  , resulting in the return of three female Hamas hostages and the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners:  69 women and 21 minors. Hamas said it would release four more Israeli women on Saturday .

 

A Hamas official, Mousa Abu Marzouk, said the movement was  ready to engage in dialogue with the United States and praised newly inaugurated President Donald Trump for his involvement in brokering the ceasefire agreement.

 

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli occupation forces "executed a child and wounded another" in the center of Rafah , in the southern Gaza Strip.

 

The child was reportedly killed by a sniper. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that "on the instructions of the Political-Security Cabinet, the IDF, the Shin Bet and the Israel Police today launched a military operation - called the Iron Wall - to combat terrorism in the West Bank . "
